Trump's System of Punishment and Favor

The ex-president's intense desire for retribution has swiftly transformed into a methodical framework. Within the year since his election, the leader's anger and caprices have adopted the guise of administrative measures in a manner analogous to historical repressive regimes. Government personnel who do not cooperate are immediately fired and succeeded by loyalists. Critical figures who question him encounter prosecution, trial and sanctions. Opponents have been labeled under executive orders as “anti-American”, “anti-Christian” and “against free markets”, and menaced with prosecution as “extremists”.

Federal Agencies Transformed

Each case involving legal action of Trump's enemies and immunity for supporters exhibits its own distinct characteristics. Yet, despite their specific form, they exemplify expressions of what has arisen as a deliberate technique. These episodes are not isolated. The administration's cleansing of federal attorneys and FBI officials, alongside his placement of loyalists in senior posts, started quickly, quickly developed a regularity, and has now been shaped into a structure. The justice department and the Federal Bureau have been remade into partisan organizations under the president's direct command to carry out his wishes. Wrongdoing has been made standard. This is the retribution system.

Leadership is more concerned with penalizing the leader's supposed enemies than they are with protecting our country's safety.

Internal the Structure

The origin of this mechanism has been uncovered in the court filing of three previous top FBI officials lodged in September in the federal court in DC against agency head an administration figure and top lawyer Pam Bondi for illegal termination in “a campaign of revenge against them for what Defendants deemed to be a failure to show sufficient devotion”. According to the filing that Brian Driscoll, the former acting FBI director, describes a conversation in which he “openly acknowledged the unlawfulness of his conduct”.

He had sought to protect law enforcement officers from being fired, the filing claims. Patel advised him that “White House figures” – perceived by him to be the executive branch and justice department – had ordered him to remove anyone who they identified as having been involved in a law enforcement case against him. The filing goes on: “He explained that he had to fire the individuals his bosses told him to fire, because his ability to hold his own role relied on the ouster of the officials who handled cases involving the President. The director noted that there was no way he or Driscoll could do to stop these or any other firings, because ‘the agency attempted to put the leader in jail and he recalls it clearly.’” Once Driscoll informed Patel he was disregarding the FBI's own policies, the director reportedly said “he knew that and he knew the character of the summary firings were almost certainly improper”.

Broad Consequences

Since his claimed acknowledgment to the official, the DoJ and the law enforcement agency have been dismantled and repurposed for Trump's system of punishment. Several of the bureau's top officials were dismissed or forced out in the initial period of the presidency. Roughly thousands of legal professionals at the department have agreed to a “voluntary departure plan”. At least several government attorneys, including those in the New York office, stepped down in dissent over what they considered as partisan influence in dropping the legal action against the New York City mayor, a political figure, in return for his assistance with the administration's Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests of foreign nationals. The anti-corruption unit of DoJ, which oversees misconduct investigations, has been diminished to minimal staff. The equality section has been devastated: 70% of its staff has resigned. One-third of senior leaders at DoJ have quit. The section enforcing environmental law has seen departures of half its supervisors.

Rewards and Penalties

In the Adams case, the interim prosecutor for the southern district of New York, the official, resigned in protest against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. Tom Homan, his “immigration leader,” appeared as the implementer with him on a media outlet to announce: “Unless he complies, I'll be back in the city.”. Meanwhile, a former official, earlier the justice department figure and a past legal representative, who arranged the agreement, was awarded an appellate federal judgeship, a potential stepping stone to the supreme court.

Trump's protection for offenses perpetrated while in power, awarded by the unprecedented decision of the GOP-led on the judicial body, thus thwarting his legal action over the political violence and safeguarding his electoral prospects for the 2024 election, is the basis on which he stands to defend his stalwarts. With such immunity, he has been empowered to enable misconduct. The effect of the supreme court decision saturates his government and the political party thoroughly. Trump v United States has escalated. In the words of Richard Nixon's legal adviser the figure said about the Watergate
